Oral History

Written by Administrator. Posted in Uncategorised

The main task for the SEE ME project at the moment is to collect the stories of the African-Caribbean community and other Black people who migrated to or were born in Britain during the twentieth century. This generation is ageing and it is important that their stories are recorded before they are lost. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer to tell us your story then please contact us.

We also need volunteers to record the oral testimonies of elders in our communities. If you haven’t done this before, it can be a rewarding experience just listening to peoples stories and knowing that you have recorded them for future generations to listen to, enjoy and learn about our shared heritage.

If you wan’t to get involved, but perhaps don’t feel comfortable interviewing people, we are also keen for volunteers who would like to help transcribe the stories we collect, helping us to make then accessible to a wider audience in a range of formats.

However, if you wish to be involved, we have experts who will provide all the training you need, but it does require some time commitment from you.
